How it is calculated
Triangle area = base × perpendicular height / 2. Both dimensions must be nonnegative and use the same length unit; the result uses that unit squared.
Assumptions
Inputs are finite numbers in the requested format and do not mix incompatible units.
Example
A base of 10 and perpendicular height of 6 produce an area of 30 square units. A sloping side is not a substitute for perpendicular height.
