Savings Goal guide

What it is for

The Savings Goal estimates a financial outcome so you can compare scenarios before making a decision.

How it is calculated

Solve for the annual end-of-year contribution needed to reach the goal: goal × r / ((1 + r)^years − 1). Divide that amount by 12 to show a monthly budget equivalent.

Assumptions

Taxes, fees, inflation, rate changes, and product terms are not included unless the inputs account for them.

Example

Worked example — Savings goal: $10000; Annual savings rate: 3%; Years to goal: 3. Required monthly contribution: $269.6086361; Total contributions needed: $9,705.9109.

Limitations

This is not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Confirm terms with official documents and a qualified professional.
